As we learn about plans for 4th of July in the Charlotte area, we will list the events below. But please keep in mind that any of these could change, based on the health trends. So please do follow the links and check with the organizers.

Mount Holly Fireworks Celebration
Thursday, June 25th, 2020
9:15 p.m.
Mount Holly Middle School Field,124 S Hawthorne Street, Mt. Holly
The fireworks will be set off from the middle school field. You can watch from that vicinity, and they will also be streamed live on the City of Mount Holly’s Facebook page.
Charlotte Motor Speedway
Wednesday, July 1st, 2020
7 p.m.
$40 per car
Charlotte Motor Speedway is showing a drive-in movie, The Goonies, at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Please stay in your car except to use the restroom.
Cramerton Fireworks
Saturday, June 27th, 2020
9:15 p.m.
The celebration will be fireworks only and will be launched from Goat Island Park. Seating will not be allowed at Centennial Center. But a week before the event they will inflate a large red balloon at the approximate average height of the fireworks, so that you can find a viewing spot. If you can see the balloon you should be able to see the fireworks.
Free Fishing Day
Saturday, July 4th, 2020
On July 4th, you can fish for free, with no fishing license, at any public body of water in the state of North Carolina. Many locations offer free loaner equipment.

Cabarrus Brewing Co.
329 McGill Avenue NW, Concord
Celebrate Independence Day at Cabarrus Brewing Co. They’ll have hot dog and ice cream vendors there, and at 7 p.m., there will be a hot dog eating contest. You need to sign up in advance for the contest, and there are limited spots.
City of Gastonia Fireworks
Saturday, July 4th, 2020
9:30 p.m.
The City of Gastonia is presenting a fireworks show, but not the rest of the traditional festivities. The fireworks will be able to be viewed from Downtown Gastonia, so you’re encouraged to visit the restaurants and shops and make a night of it.

Watch the Piedmont Pride compete in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. You need to make reservations, as social distancing is in place.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and the music starts at 6 p.m. Bands are Late Night Special, Lindsay Jordan, and The GreenLife Family Band. BBQ, hot dogs, burgers for sale. There will be games for kids, and lots of space. It’s free, but you have to reserve your spot. (Follow above link.)

These huge sunflower fields should be in full bloom the weekend of July 4th (and a couple weeks after) but it depends on weather. You’re free to visit and take pictures, but please don’t pick any flowers.

Charlotte Museum of History is not holding its annual Independence Day event at the museum, but is, instead, offering a week-long Independence Day celebration online.
