Spend Independence Day at Museum of the Waxhaws, 8215 Waxhaw Hwy, Waxhaw, North Carolina. The museum is 31 miles to the south of the center of Charlotte. It’s close to Ballantyne, Pineville, and Weddington.
The celebration takes place Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 12 to 4 p.m. It’s free to attend.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can explore an 18th-century military encampment featuring an officer’s tent, additional period tents, historical displays, and interpreters sharing the experiences of the American Revolution.
Living-history activities and hands-on opportunities will continue between scheduled demonstrations, giving visitors an up-close and immersive look at the people, equipment, and stories of America’s fight for independence.
