The museum honors Captain C.B. “Sully” Sullenberger, who, with his crew, safely landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in New York, with no loss of life. This flight, known as the “Miracle on the Hudson,” had just taken off for Charlotte.
The centerpiece of the museum is the plane that Sullenberger piloted in the “Miracle on the Hudson” landing. The museum also teaches about the history of flight and the people who made it possible.
In addition, the museum features a plaza where you can view an assortment of planes, and watch planes take off, and a hands-on area, Honeywell Makerspace.
Main Exhibit Area

In the main exhibit area of the museum, you will learn about the people instrumental in the aviation industry, and can see multiple airplanes up close.

Kids can get behind the cockpit of a plane and operate some controls, and there are also some flight simulators to try out.

The highlight of the museum is the actual US Airways plane that Sullenberger landed in the Hudson. While sitting just feet from the plane, watch a film in which passengers on the flight describe the experience, second by second.

Also on display are artifacts from the flight, including everything from the Captain’s and Co-Pilot’s uniforms, to passengers’s items, such as a laptop, tooth brush, book and Blackberry.

The Plaza

In the outdoor plaza, you can see more planes, read informational displays and watch plane take off.

Honeywell Makerspace

The Honeywell Makerspace is a hands-on area where you can make a paper airplane and test it against targets with a launcher, try out a wind tunnel and make a plane out of cardboard.
