Visit Mint Museum for Free
Moms visit Mint Museum Uptown, 500 S Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC, for free on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2026. In addition, moms can enjoy Caravaggio | Revolution for just $10, redeemable in-person on Mother’s Day only. Full price tickets for the exhibit are $25.

IKEA Charlotte is giving moms a free gift (a candle and a plant) on Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. To receive a gift, moms must be a member of IKEA Family and must register for this event before it fills up. Details here.
Sullenberger Aviation Museum
Sullenberger Aviation Museum is offering FREE admission to moms on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2026.
The museum is at 4108 Minuteman Way, Charlotte, North Carolina. Sunday hours are 12 to 4:30 p.m.
The museum honors Captain C.B. “Sully” Sullenberger, who, with his crew, safely landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in New York, with no loss of life. This flight had just taken off for Charlotte. The safe landing is known as the “Miracle on the Hudson.”
Paint Pottery
Moms paint a piece of pottery for free at Meg-Art Pottery Studio, 15940 Northcross Drive, Suite A, Huntersville, North Carolina. Must be accompanied by one or more other people. The combined total of the other people’s pottery must be at least as much as the free one that Mom paints.
Play Mini-Golf
Moms play mini-golf at Mr. Putty’s Fun Park for free on Mother’s Day. There also will be a plant vendor there. 2333 Dam Road, Tega Cay, South Carolina.
Play Ball!
The Knothole Foundation is hosting a FREE mother-daughter softball clinic on Saturday, May 9, 2026. Learn more here.
Go on a hike

Enjoy a free outdoor concert
The Charlotte area boasts a huge number and variety of free outdoor concerts, and Mother’s Day Weekend is no exception. This weekend there are free concerts at Birkdale Village, Stowe Park in Belmont, the Whitewater Center, Camp North End, the Davidson Village Green, and more. North Carolina Zoo
Road trip to Asheboro to see the animals! Moms get $3 off tickets to the North Carolina Zoo on May 10, 2026. Just mention the “Mother’s Day offer” at the admission gate. The discount can not be combined with other offers. Announced on Facebook.
Take a walk in a garden
Visit one of these Charlotte area botanical gardens. There are 8 on the list to choose from and all are wonderful. On May 10, 2026, the first 500 moms at Gardens at Stowe get a free plant.
Buy a museum membership
Buy your mom a membership to one of Charlotte’s great museums, so that she can visit as much as she’d like.
