The Christmas season is filled with music, but none exemplifies the season as much as Handel’s Messiah, especially the Christmas part. It’s become a tradition to attend a performance of The Messiah in December, and there are several chances to do so in the Charlotte area in 2018. Some are sing-alongs.
These performances are presented by professional musical groups, community groups, school and church groups, and range in price, starting at free. Follow each link for details. Know of others? Let me know and I’ll try to get them onto the list.
Please note that the Charlotte Symphony is just performing The Hallelujah Chorus (not any more of The Messiah) as part of their “Magic of Christmas” concert, but we’re listing that below, just in case the Hallelujah Chorus is your favorite part!

The orchestra will also perform a new Christmas carol written just for them. Santa and other festive characters will be there, and, yes, it will definitely snow.
