Hodges Family Farm is located just north of UNC Charlotte. It’s one of the oldest working farms in the area and is recognized as a “Century Farm” by the NC Department of Agriculture.
Situated on 150 acres, the farm is listed on the National and State Historic Registries and is currently managed by the children and grandchildren of Olivia and Frank Hodges. The family home, built in 1908, remains the property’s cornerstone.
Over the years, the Hodges family raised hogs, corn, cotton, and dairy cows. The farm operated as a dairy until 1999, when Frankie Hodges Jr. concluded that competing with larger dairies was unsustainable. To preserve the farm’s legacy, Frankie adapted operations to be a regenerative farm focusing on agritourism.
The farm’s offerings continue to evolve. It currently boasts:
- The ever-popular fall Pumpkin Patch (opening weekend is 9/28!)
- A farm shop (complete with online ordering and local delivery) that offers farm-raised beef, pork, chicken, lamb, free-range eggs, local honey, herbs, local coffee, and dairy products
- Fall field trip opportunities
- A wedding/event venue: 1932 Barn.
