Windy Hill Orchard and Cider Mill, 1860 Black Highway, York, South Carolina, is a much-loved local tradition in the Charlotte area. A visit is a tasty way of welcoming the fall season and everything it includes, especially apples.
Windy Hill features pre-picked and U-pick apples, fresh pressed apple cider, hard cider, apple products and more. Especially popular are Windy Hill’s hot apple cider doughnuts.

U-Pick Apples
Reservations are required for U-pick apples (but not for buying pre-picked apples and other products.) The U-Pick apple crop has been affected by the severe drought. Read updates and make reservations when available.

Apple Cider Donuts
Windy Hill’s Farm Stand and Cider Bar
At the Cider Bar, enjoy fresh pressed cider, hard cider, apple cider donuts, apple cider slush, fried apple pies, fried pork skins, soft pretzels and more.
At the roadside Farm Stand pick up fresh pressed apple cider, pre-picked apples, cider donuts, apple pies, Wassail, bottled hard cider and much more.
The Farm Stand is open Thursday to Sunday, and the Cider Bar is open Friday to Sunday.
Hayrides and Special Events
Hayrides are available on select dates in the fall, starting on November 1, 2026.
Please see the calendar for the dates and times of hayrides.
The hayride will take you on a quick trip around the orchard and costs $3 a person, with kids under 2 free with a paying adult. You buy tickets at the farm stand or cider bar. Schedule is subject to change, so check the website and Facebook page.
Fire pits will be available in November too.
Live music is also scheduled on select dates, starting in September.
