The Town of Cornelius is presenting a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 29, 2023, on the Cornelius Town Hall Lawn, 21445 Catawba Avenue, Cornelius.
At 10 a.m., join the Town of Cornelius and American Legion Post 86 and honor our nation’s servicemen and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. This ceremony will be held on the lawn across from the Cornelius Veterans Monument at Rotary Plaza.
The program will include guests:
- Master of Ceremonies – Commander Randy Wally, American Legion Post 86
- Welcome – Mayor Woody Washam
- Keynote Speaker – Major Cory Jones, United States Marine Corps
- Invocation and Closing Prayer – Pastor David Judge, First Baptist Church of Cornelius
The event will also include:
- POW/MIA Empty Chair and Wreath of Remembrance ceremonies
- Patriotic music by W.A. Hough High School Concert Choir
- 21-gun salute
- Hough High School and Hopewell High School JROTC
Following the ceremony head across the street to the Cain Center for the Arts, 21348 Catawba Avenue, Cornelius, for light refreshments.
Then, at 11:40 a.m., watch the movie “Devotion” in the Cain Center theatre.
