Kannapolis Christmas Parade
The Kannapolis Christmas Parade takes place December 14th, 2019, at 6:00 p.m.
The new route is the same distance but will offer more areas for the crowd to watch the parade comfortably with the incredible backdrop of the North Carolina Research Campus, Kannapolis City Hall & Police Headquarters and the new West Avenue Streetscape.
The parade will begin at the intersection of Main Street and Laureate Way at the parking deck of the North Carolina Research Campus, travel down Laureate Way past Kannapolis City Hall & Police Headquarters, turning on West Avenue at the Gem Theatre and traveling down West Avenue ending at the intersection of Vance Street and West Avenue.

More than 100 units are participating in the parade, including 12 bands. Outgoing City Council Member Roger Haas will serve as the parade’s Grand Marshal.
Kannapolis Celebration of Lights and Winterland Express
Kannapolis has a lot in store for the 2019 Christmas season. Most of the events take place at Village Park.
- Kannapolis kicks off the holiday season with its tree lighting event on Sunday, November 24th, 2019, (rescheduled from Saturday because of the weather forecast), at Village Park, 700 West C Street, starting at 6 p.m. Enjoy live music and entertainment, kids’ activities and fireworks. Admission is free. The cost of the train ride is $2.
- From November 24th through December 30th (with the exception of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) enjoy the Celebration of Lights & Winterland Express. You can walk through Village Park or take the Winterland Express to view the lights. It’s free to walk through the park and $2 for the train. Roast marshmallows, make s’mores, meet Santa or Mrs. Claus. Enjoy a 30-minute Christmas carol performance on the hour, starting at 6 p.m. Children will also have an opportunity to create ornaments. It will be open Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
