Hodges Family Farm, at 3900 Rocky River Road, is one of the oldest farms in Charlotte that’s still operating, serving the community for over 100 years.
Many children have visited their famous pumpkin patch over the years. Many are now bringing their own children to visit.

This fall the pumpkin patch is returning to Hodges Family Farm.

The 100-year-old Hodges Family Farm is located just north of UNC Charlotte. It’s one of the oldest working farms in the area.
Situated on 150 acres, the farm is listed on the National and State Historic Registries and is currently being managed by the children and grandchildren of Olivia and Frank Hodges.
Over the years, the Hodges family has raised hogs, corn, cotton, and dairy cows to keep the family clothed and fed. The family home, built in 1908, still remains the cornerstone of the property.
The farm operated as a dairy until 1999 when Frankie Hodges Jr. concluded that competing with larger dairies was unsustainable. To preserve the farm’s legacy, Frankie adapted operations to be a regenerative farm with a segment that focuses on agritourism.
The agritourism has grown by leaps and bounds, including:
- the ever-popular fall Pumpkin Patch (opening weekend is 9/24!)
- a farm shop (complete with online ordering and local delivery)
- farm-raised beef, pork, chicken, free-range eggs, local honey, and dairy products
- field trip opportunities
- farm tours
- obstacle course races
- a wedding/event venue
Please visit the Farm’s website and Facebook events page to check out all of the fun, educational, good ol’ fashioned activities!
