Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s Summer Break program encourages kids, teens and adults to read and stay active over the summer. Everyone who signs up receives a coupon for a Wendy’s Jr. Frosty and a Charlotte FC sticker, and participants who complete the program will receive a prize.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is presenting several Summer Break Kick Off Events. All are free to attend. The kickoff events feature fun activities like performances, arts and crafts, free ice cream, and more. Each branch’s kickoff event is different. Hugo the Hornet will be at a couple of the events!
There’s even one kickoff event that takes place at Knothole Foundation Tuckaseegee Dream Fields and includes a kickball game, free ice cream truck, free baseball clinic, games and more.

At 1 p.m., enjoy a high energy show about the fun of reading from the Hornets mascot Hugo. The first 75 children to pick up a ticket at the Children’s Desk will have the opportunity to choose a book from the Barings Book Bus after the show (parents must sign a waiver before they enter the bus).
Other activities for children include balloon animals, a literacy activity, games, and a frozen treat.
Teens- join us for a DIY mystery make and take activity in the Teen Area. No experience is required, just bring your creativity, and make a keepsake!

Join us for a Community Kickoff event hosted by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, and Knothole Foundation Dream Fields. There will be a kickball game open to the community, games, Free Ice Cream Truck (While Supplies Last) and Concessions.
