There are several Golden Egg Hunts this Easter season, but only one at the site of a gold mine!
Reed Expansion Committee is hosting a FREE Easter Egg Hunt at Reed Gold Mine State Historic Site, at 9621 Reed Mine Road, Midland, North Carolina, on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Reed Gold Mine is the site of the first documented gold find in the United States.
The egg hunt for ages 0-4 will be at 1 p.m., with the egg hunt for ages 5 and up at 1:30 p.m.
Multiple prizes will be given out for those who find golden eggs. Prizes include items from the gift shop and panning tickets.
To answer a question that might pop up: The organizers have not indicated that the egg hunt will take place IN the mine, and unless we hear from them that it will, we assume that it will be on the grounds, not in the mine!
