Start the year off on the right foot with the New Year’s Day 5K. This year the race goes along the Greenways in University City.
The race is on January 1st, 2023, and starts at 10 a.m.
This is a run and walk experience that takes you along the Greenways in University City, including Mallard Creek Greenway, Barton Creek Greenway and Toby Creek Greenway.
The starting line is at The Shoppes at University Place, 8956 JM Keynes Drive, Charlotte.
The finish line is on the campus of UNC Charlotte, at 9041 Robert D. Snyder Road, where
the post-race celebration will greet participants.
After the race, participants and their supporters can celebrate the New Year with a street party of music, brunch, warm drinks, and beer.
Charlotte New Year’s Day 5k will benefit University City Foundation, a nonprofit
dedicated to advancing community development, community building, and
placemaking programs and projects in the University City market area.
This event welcomes runners and walkers at all levels and is a great way to start
your New Year. Family and friends of participants are encouraged to register for
the post-race celebration as well.
There will be free parking near the starting line at 8956 JM Keynes Drive. The race finishes across the street, so you’ll have a short walk back to your car.
Instead of driving, consider riding the light rail to LYNX Blue Line Station JW Clay Blvd.
