Not to be confused with National Cheeseburger Day, National Hamburger Day is on May 28th every year, around Memorial Day. This year, 2023, it’s on Sunday, so it’s a tasty way to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in Charlotte!
The first known hamburger was created by a 15-year-old German immigrant named Charles Nagreen, who was selling meatballs at the 1885 Seymour Fair in Wisconsin. In at attempt sell them to people who were walking around, he flattened meatballs and put them between two slices of bread, and called it a “hamburger sandwich.” A legend was born, and he was known from then on as “Hamburger Charlie” and returned to the fair every year to sell hamburgers.

Wendy’s has two deals for National Hamburger Month and Day.
All of May: Buy one premium hamburger and get another for only $1 when you order on the Wendy’s app. This deal refreshes once a week through the month of May.
May 26 to June 1, 2023: Get a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger for just 1¢ with any purchase when ordering on the Wendy’s app. One-time use.
MOOYAH
MOOYAH is launching na new app, with a new loyalty program. To celebrate the new app, as well as National Hamburger Day, from May 26 to 28, 2023, MOOYAH is offering a free burger with any $5 purchase to existing or new loyalty club members. 2233 Matthews Township Pkwy, Matthews, NC. Keith Clinic Estramonte Chiropractic
This deal is on Monday, not Sunday. Once again, Keith Clinic Estramonte Chiropractic and StarMed Healthcare are offering a free lunch on Memorial Day. This is the continuation of a tradition started more than 40 years ago by Keith Clinic. On Monday, May 29, 2023, starting at 11 a.m., drive-thru at Keith Clinic Estramonte Chiropractic, 4016 Triangle Drive in West Charlotte. Each person present will receive a lunch bag with a “Nearly World Famous Double-Bacon Cheeseburger, along with sides. While supplies last.
Burger King
Burger King is offering its Royal Perks members a free hamburger with a purchase of $1 or more from May 26 to 28, 2023. You’ll need to activate the deal in the “Offers” tab of the BK App or bk.com/rewards/offers.
Hooters
Hooters’ dine-in patrons Saturday, May 27 through Monday, May 29, 2023, can enjoy a $9.99 build your own burger deal, including fries. Pair it with $3 Blue Moon drafts or a $9.99 Michelob Ultra pitcher. Also, kids eat free through 5/28/2023 with the purchase of an adult entrée.
Smashburger
Smashburger offers frequent deals, and you can find them on smashburger.com/deals. We’ll be on the lookout for a Hamburger Day deal, but for now, they have a gift card deals. Buy $25 in gift cards and get $5 in Smash Cash.
Wayback Burgers
Wayback Burgers is offering guests BOBO Classic Burger on May 28, 2023. Download the Wayback app in order to participate in this deal, which was announced in this press release. You’ll find Wayback Burgers at 7014 Tutor Street, Suite A, Mint Hill, NC.
