Hosted by storyteller and author Carlo L. Dawson. DARING DAVE! Who is Dave the Potter? Was he simply an enslaved artist and writer, or did his pottery and his poetry offer the world more? Come be creative and learn about this courageous South Carolinian!
During the storytelling event, participants will engage in poetry-writing in the style of Dave Drake the Potter; create a piece of pottery; and may purchase a “Why We Celebrate’ book by Carlo L’Chelle Dawson, which features the history of African American artisans and writers.
