ImaginOn, at 300 E 7th Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, is celebrating 20 years of inspiring kids, teens and families with a special Super Saturday event on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
ImaginOn is a collaboration between Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. It features creative activities and events for kids of every age, including teens.
It’s free to attend.
ImaginOn’s “Out of This World” birthday party is filled with space-themed fun, live entertainment and a look back at its journey since 2005.
Besides all of the activities, below, there will be a Charlotte Children’s Theatre Costume Shop Sale from 10 a.m.t o 5 p.m.
Hundreds of pieces will be available, from fantasy to modern dress and everything in between – including hats, masks, accessories, and full costume pieces. Prices start at $1!
The Invisible Boy:
It’s the opening weekend of the smash hit musical about kindness and friendship! The show runs until Nov 2, but on Super Saturday, you can catch the show at 11 AM or 3 PM with a ticket from the Box Office.
Activities & Highlights
- Chalk the Walk(way): Creative Canvas Productions will host a community chalking zone where you can create an “Out of This World” chalk art design of your own.
- Live Music: School of Rock performs hits from the past 20 years, including 2005—the year ImaginOn opened!
- Storytimes Among the Stars: Baby and family storytimes with a galactic twist.
- Space Jam Dance Party: A blacklight dance celebration with glow-in-the-dark bubbles and bracelets.
- Photo Ops: Step inside a rocket ship cut-out for a picture-perfect launch.
- Rocketry of Central Carolina (ROCC): Learn about model rocketry at their hobby table.
- Cosmic Crafts: Make your own rocket, space helmet, or alien spoon puppet to take home.
- Glitter & Glow Tattoos: Shine bright with space-themed body art.
- Time Capsule: Add your star/wish to our space-themed 20th anniversary capsule.
- Special Guest: Meet Stitch from Lilo & Stitch!
- Happy Birthday Sing-Along: Celebrate ImaginOn with staff and visitors as we sing together.
- Memory Lane: Enjoy a display of Children’s Theatre of Charlotte playbills from the past 20 years, a photo retrospective of our grand opening in 2005 and a T-shirt clothesline featuring designs from CTC, the Library and ImaginOn.
