Celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, 10500 Beatties Ford Road, Huntersville, North Carolina, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This is a free event. A BBQ lunch will be available for purchase for $18. Order in advance. Choices are pork or chicken, with beans and slaw.

Event Schedule

10 a.m.: Parade from Tanner’s Creek to Hopewell (one mile)
11 a.m.: Program and Meck Dec reading (lawn chairs recommended)
12:15 p.m.: Lunch at Family Life Center (pre-order BBQ or BYO)
12:45 p.m.: Program: Lake Norman Sings and Meck Dec story
1 p.m.: Games, living history, local groups, treat trucks and souvenirs
3 p.m. Event ends
