Heart of a Champion Day is Atrium Health’s annual FREE sports-specific health screening. What makes this event unique is that every athlete receives an electrocardiogram (EKG), which can detect abnormal electrical activity in the heart.
This screening can identify some dangerous conditions that might not be detected in traditional sports screenings.
Heart of a Champion Day includes a sport-specific screening that exceeds the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and/or South Carolina High School League regulations for sports participation.
In addition, students receive hands-only CPR training.
Heart of a Champion Day is an annual one-day program that started in 2008.
