
Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is presenting tons of free activities during Winter Break 2025/2026, for all age groups. They include films, crafts, holiday celebrations and much more. To see them all, visit the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library website.

All of these events are free to attend. There are also multiple story times, and other recurring events. So check the library’s website for all the options.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools’ Winter Break, including weekends, goes from December 20, 2025, to January 4, 2026.

Books Start Art: DIY Paper Toys

In support of Children’s Theatre of Charlotte’s production of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, let’s make our own toys using paper and simple craft supplies. With support from Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and Tom Burch, Associate Professor of Scenic Design at UNCC, who created and designed the original puppet show for CTC in 2020, the library invites you to experience the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds using puppetry and artwork. Join us for a magical toy theatre experience that unfolds from a trunk as we follow a young girl’s journey of artistic expression and self-discovery that starts with a painted dot on a blank piece of paper. This 30 minute program is for ages PreK and up. It includes an art introduction, a 10-minute toy theatre show, and a themed activity for our budding artists.
