
The very popular Festival of India is being planned for fall of 2023 at Belk Theater, but you don’t have to wait until then to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of this very popular festival.
The India Association of Charlotte is partnering with the Town of Matthews to present the Regional Festival of India @ Matthews.
This festival is planned for Saturday, April 29th, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Stumptown Park, 120 South Trade Street, Matthews.
The festival is free to attend and there’s ample free parking as well. Read on to learn about some of the activities at the festival.

Indian Village Mud House Exhibit
This special exhibit gives you a look at a mud house, which is common in Indian villages. You can see the kitchen, dining room, Pooja room, living room and bedroom.
- 12 to 6 p.m.: Tour the house
- 1 p.m.: Pottery show
- 2:30 p.m.: All Artists Photoshoot
- 3 p.m.: Village and folk art performance on stage
Kids’ Activity Corner
Kids can participate in Indian carnival games like ring toss, lemon spoon race and much more.
Yoga Demonstration
From 12 to 12:30 p.m. there will be a demonstration of poses and traditional yoga methods.
