Wednesdays through Sundays, through October 29th, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is lighting up at night with the Chinese Lantern Festival.

These aren’t small, hand-held lanterns. They are huge trees, pandas, elephants, tigers and more, illuminated with LED lightbulbs and light tubes.
The festival is a production of Hanart Culture and has previously been produced in Dallas, Calgary and Boca Raton. It’s the largest exhibition Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden has ever presented.
Some of the lanterns have traveled 6,000 miles from Zigong to Shanghai to Charleston to Belmont by riverboat, ocean liner, train and truck. Others were created right at Stowe Garden by master artisans and artists from China.
In addition to the lantern display there are performances each night, as well as a food truck:

5:30 – 9:30 p.m.: Family Activities

6 – 6:45 p.m.: Kung Fu Show followed by a Coaching Session

8:45 – 9:15 p.m.: Shadow Play followed by Backstage Activities
The cost at the door is $24.95 for adults, $21.95 for seniors age 60+, and $15.95 for kids age 2-12. If you purchase them online they’ll be $21.95 for adults, $19.95 for seniors and $14.95 for kids.

College students can save $6 on Chinese Lantern Festival admission online (www.DSBG.org) or at the door with a valid college ID every Thursday through Oct. 26 with discount code COLLEGE! Not valid with Garden Member discount.

Save on Chinese Lantern Festival admission online (www.DSBG.org) or at the door every Wednesday through Oct. 25 if you were born in the Year of the Rooster with discount code ROOSTER! Adults save $6, seniors 60+ save $5, and children 2-12 save $4. Not valid with Garden Member discount.

To use either of these promo codes, go to the ticket page. On the top, select your date. For the college student discount, it must be a Thursday. For the Rooster discount it must be a Wednesday. Then go to the bottom of the page, where you’ll see College or Rooster tickets listed. The regular online price will be listed. Click on those and then enter the promo code and the discount will be applied.
