This summer, Discovery Place Science, 168 W 6th Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, will be filled with the sound of LEGO bricks clicking, as families immerse themselves in Brick Masters Studio.

Discovery Place is giving a family four-pack of tickets to one Charlotte on the Cheap reader! Keep reading to learn about the exhibition and how to enter the contest.

Brick Masters Studio is, by far, the most hands-on exhibition at Discovery Place in our memory, and the one that will appeal to everyone in the family, from the adult nostalgic about their own LEGO builds, to art appreciators who won’t believe that the sculptures they’re seeing are really made of LEGOs, to kids who just want to dig their hands into the bricks and start building.

The exhibition features work by world-renowned artist Sean Kenney. It’s produced by Imagine with science content developed by Science North.

It features over 100 sculptures built with over 2 million LEGO pieces, as well as hands-on build challenges, real-world engineering concepts, and insights into the artistic process.

Discovery Place Science is hosting Brick Masters Studio from May 23 to September 7, 2026. This special exhibit is included in general admission for the museum.

Going to Brick Masters Studio

Brick Masters Studio is included in Discovery Place Science regular admission.

Save by purchasing tickets online.

  • Adults (14-59): $23.96 ($28.95 at the door)
  • Children (2-13): $18.97 ($23.96 at the door)
  • Seniors (60+): $20.98 ($26.01 at the door)
  • Members: Free

Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Purchase tickets here.

Military members get $2 off. Must show ID.

North Carolina and South Carolina families who receive Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) or Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) food and nutrition benefits can get tickets for $3, for up to 5 guests. Bring a valid state-issued ID and your EBT card or WIC card/voucher.

If you are a member of another museum in the ASTC Passport Program, you will be admitted for free. However, if your home museum is within 90 miles you will not be eligible. Learn more here.

We are especially trying to encourage my daughter as we’ve noticed most Lego sets are geared towards boys, and the ones gear for girls are not nearly as intricate.
