Ace Hardware is giving away 1 million American flags for Memorial Day on Saturday, May 27, 2023.
These are 8″x12″ stick flags, suitable for placing on a grave, field, or garden as a tribute to a fallen serviceman or servicewomen.
The United States has a long tradition of placing flags on graves. After the Civil War, members of the community placed flowers, wreaths and flags on the graves of fallen soldiers, as part of a holiday called Decoration Day.
This tradition of honoring soldiers who died while defending our country continued as part of Memorial Day, which honors service men and women who died during any of our country’s wars.
No purchase is required. The first 240 customers at each participating store will receive a flag, while supplies last. Ace Hardware is also giving away flags to VFW posts, to be used for marking and honoring veterans’ graves this Memorial Day.
Visit any Ace Hardware on May 27, 2023, to pick up a flag, while supplies last.
