Join the North Carolina Wildlife Federation Charlotte Wildlife Stewards Chapter and City of Charlotte Landscape Management for an exciting night of mothing, led by City Arborist and entomologist Laurie Reid.
Moth Night takes place Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8:30 to 11 p.m. at Tuckaseegee Arboretum and Gardens (TAG), 701 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, North Carolina.
This is a free event, but space is limited and registration is required. Register here.
As the sun goes down, there will be lights and sheets set up to attract our native moths, and you’re certain to see some moths you’ve never seen before. Not only are moths great pollinators; they are also an important food source for breeding birds.
In addition to moths, we will likely see other species of noctural wildlife too. It’s fantastic for all ages! Download the iNaturalist app to help you identify the moths and contribute to the National Moth Week Bioblitz. This exploration is a fun way to learn about our “night crew.”
