During Wednesday Night Live, where several museums in Uptown Charlotte are free to visit, Bechtler Museum is presenting Soundtrack Remix on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. It’s free to attend, but please RSVP. Learn more here.
Experience an evening of live music, art, and creative exploration inspired by David McGee: The Griot and the Nightingale. In collaboration with Black Notes Project and Charlotte musician Tim Scott Jr., the program brings the exhibition to life through sound, rhythm, and creativity.
Live performances inspired by the exhibition’s playlists will take place throughout the night, connecting McGee’s artwork with jazz, hip-hop, and Black musical traditions.
“Cover Art Remix” Session
Guests can also join an all-ages “Cover Art Remix” Session, a drop-in style art-making activity where participants create their own album-inspired artwork using collage, poetry, handwritten reflections, and templates modeled after classic Blue Note and Impulse! Records covers.
The exhibition also features three curated playlists—including selections by David McGee, Black Notes Project, and composer Chris Becker—that extend the exhibition beyond the gallery walls, inviting visitors to experience the artwork through music, memory, and sound.
