
Celebrate African heritage, culture, art, fashion, and unity through the theme “Threads of Freedom: Unity, Heritage and Cultural Legacy.”
Mint Museum Randolph, at 2730 Randolph Road, Charlotte, North Carolina, is hosting the Africa Day Celebration on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. It’s free to attend but registration is required. RSVP here.
Presented in collaboration with The African Think Tank (TATT), DRC ApeParel, ADCUSA (African Diaspora Coalition of USA), DJ Steel Wheel, and a coalition of cultural and community partners, this event celebrates Africa Day that honors the founding of the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union) and celebrates the global contributions of Africa and its diaspora.
Scheduled activities include:
- Welcome reception and vendor showcase.
- Designing Dynamism: Kuba Textiles from the DR Congo, The Wesley Mancini Collection exhibition tour.
- Poetry and spoken word performances.
- Amani Kids Dance performance.
- African fashion presentation.
- Cultural performances and community recognition.
- Afrobeat music by DJ Steel Wheel.
About Africa Day
Africa Day commemorates the founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on May 25, 1963, now the African Union. It is a global observance honoring Africa’s independence movements, cultural heritage, and modern achievements in health, education, entrepreneurship, women’s leadership, and sustainable development.
