FF Steven Coakley Foundation honors the heroes who lost their lives on 9/11, and funds fire safety scholarships at UNC Charlotte.
Steven Coakley was a fire fighter who was killed on 9/11 when the towers came down — one of 343 firefighters who sacrificed their lives during that tragedy.
Every year, the foundation places 2,977 American flags in Romare Bearden Park, 300 Church Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, one for each person who died during the attacks.
The ceremony is planned for Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Romare Bearden Park.
