St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, at 115 West 7th at North Tryon Street, is hosting free Center City Concerts the third Monday of every month from September 2014 through May 2015. The concerts take place at noon. On two dates the concerts will also take place at 7:30 p.m.
Free parking is available in the TransAmerica Building parking deck across 7th Street from St. Peter’s (look for the big blue “P”). If you park there, the ticket machine will provide a ticket to be validated at St. Peter’s in order to exit the deck at no charge.
A Multi-Cultural Celebration
Poets Anthony Abbott and members of the Davidson College diverse poet consortium”FreeWord,” as well as African American poet and speaker Cedric Tillman, will present a program of poems with civil and human rights themes. Some readings will be original poems and some will be readings of poems by others including Maya Angelou. Cedric will read excerpts from Martin Luther King’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail.” The program will also include songs performed by two different duos of singers and instrumentalists.
