The Charlotte Museum of History, 3500 Shamrock Drive, will partner with Drums 4 Life to produce three Family Fun Days that celebrate African American culture.

The first one, on January 14th, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., explores explore Justice, Protest and Inspiration. Each day will include African drum circle music, an educational activity that centers on African American history in Charlotte, and a craft activity for children to make a drum and create their own drum circle. A local poet and artist will enhance the program by adding poetry, and attendees will participate in a collective art project.
- Internationally renowned Kojo Bey of Drums4Life will lead drum circle activities.
- Emmy-winning spoken word poet and world-ranked Poetry Slam performer Bluz will perform.
- Fanny Flono will give a special talk on Martin Luther King Jr. in Charlotte. Flono is a Museum board member and an award-winning career journalist who retired from The Charlotte Observer after 30 years.
- Local artist Cavallo Moore will engage attendees in a collective art project.
