
The Levine Center for the Arts’ Wednesday Night Live takes place every Wednesday evening.
The three museums that are part of Levine Center for the Arts — Mint Museum Uptown, The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture — are free to visit every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Levine Museum of the New South has also joined the event, at its location at the former Wells Fargo Museum, 401 S Tryon Street.
In addition, there will free entertainment programming at one of the museums or at Knight Theater.

Mindful Sketching: Ceramic works of Toshiko Takaezu

Join Joel Smeltzer head of school and gallery programs and Diane Lowry mindfulness program facilitator for Mindful Sketching of ceramic works by Toshiko Takaezu.
Takaezu believed that art and life are interconnected, and imperfection can be poetic. These philosophies shaped her work, which she approached with both spontaneity and contemplation.
Mindful Sketching sessions incorporate mindfulness techniques such as breathwork and guided slow looking meditation. Participants can sketch a work in our gallery spaces and return for a conversation with the group.
No sketching experience necessary.
Black Carolina Artist Residency Reception

Join the community celebration of the Gantt Center’s 2025 Black Carolina Artist Residency (BCAR) cohort. To honor completion of the residency, the five-artist cohort will share reflections and highlights from their experience in BCAR, the intentionality behind their community projects, and next steps in their careers.
This reception is a great opportunity for the community to both connect with BCAR artists and learn more about the Black Carolina Collective (BCC), an intentionally curated community of Black artists from the Carolinas, whose members receive exclusive development opportunities, such as the BCAR. Black artists of varying disciplines and career levels are encouraged to join this reception to learn how to be a BCC member and how to apply to the 2026 BCAR.
The reception includes complimentary light bites and an open beer and wine bar.
