At Veterans Benefits Live: VA in my Town, veterans and their families can get one-on-one help with their benefits, claims, employment, healthcare enrollment, housing and more.
This is a free event on August 20 and 21, 2026, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. It takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
Meet one-on-one with representatives from Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and Veterans Health Administration at this free event.
Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
Make sure to bring your DD214, medical and service records and dependency documents.
Whether you’re filing a new claim, checking the status of a pending claim, exploring additional benefits, or enrolling in VA healthcare, staff will be there to help.
While you wait, you’re encouraged to visit community resource vendors and attend the hourly educational sessions to learn more about VA benefits, health care, and available programs.
Services available include:
- One-on-one assistance filing compensation and survivor benefit claims
- Claim status updates and answers to questions about existing claims
- Information about additional VA benefits you may be eligible to receive
- VA health care enrollment and eligibility assistance
- Community Care information and support
- Toxic Exposure Screenings
- Mental Health and Suicide Prevention resources
- Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E)
- VA Mobile Vet Center services
- Housing and homelessness assistance for Veterans and their families
- Community Veteran resources and partner organizations
Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams
On-site Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams may be available for select claims when appropriate. While not every claim will qualify for an on-site exam, VA staff will make every effort to provide this service whenever possible.
Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins are always welcome.
