TreesMatthews Annual Tree Giveaway on Oct. 24 — Matthews residents can register now

TreesMatthews is holding its annual tree giveaway on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. (or until all trees are given away.) It takes place at Matthews United Methodist Church, 801 S Trade Street, Matthews, North Carolina.

The tree adoption event offers two FREE native trees per residence within the Town of Matthews, while supplies last. Each tree comes with a free bag of mulch.

Registration

Advance registration is highly encouraged. If you would like to reserve a tree, please complete this registration form. Because supplies are limited to the trees we have on hand, you may reserve one tree species in advance.

Pre-registered trees must be picked up by 9:30 a.m. After 9:30 a.m., any trees that have not been picked up will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On the day of the event, you may select a second tree from the trees still available.

Please note: Registration does not guarantee you will receive a tree.

• Proof of residence must be shown (link to map).
• Each tree comes with a free bag of mulch.
• Experts will be on site to provide guidance as to which tree might be appropriate for your location.
• Everyone receiving a tree must take a brief class on how to plant and care for your tree.
• Volunteers will help load your trees and mulch into your vehicle.
