TreesCharlotte is offering a free Invasives ID TreeWalk on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Briar Creek Greenway. It’s free, but registration is required.
Have you ever thought wisteria or porcelain berry are beautiful vines? Have you heard about invasive plants but wondered what’s the big deal about them anyway? If the answer to either question is yes, please join TreesCharlotte for their next TreeWalk.
This upcoming TreeWalk will focus on invasive species identification. Led by Urban Forest Educator and Certified Arborist, Heather Brent, this guided walk will take you along the greenway path where you will learn how to spot several invasive trees and vines that are outcompeting and even killing our trees around Charlotte. She will teach you how to spot them, why they are a danger to our trees, and what you can do to help.
Tree Walk will begin at Briar Creek Greenway, 2730 Randolph Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. The parking lot is at Mint Museum Randolph, but you’ll want to park closer to the greenway entrance instead of close to the museum.
Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time to find parking as the event will start promptly at 6:00 pm. There will be a table to check in at the entrance of the Greenway.
Comfortable attire and walking shoes are a must. A hat and sunscreen are recommended. Please plan to expect a brisk walk through the greenway!
