Transforming Nations Ford invites he Southwest Charlotte community to the unveiling of the “Words Matter” mural—an act of love, resistance, and remembrance.
The event takes place September 13, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Compare Foods, 201 W Arrowood Road, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Created in memory of Jocelyn and Gabby, two young Latinas who tragically ended their lives after being bullied for their families’ immigration status, this mural ensures their stories are seen and heard.
Thanks to Compare Foods, artist Rosalia Torres-Weiner (Red Calaca Studio), and muralists Eva Crawford and Matt Moore, this wall has become a powerful statement: words matter. This dedication is more than an unveiling—it’s a call to action. With partners like Transforming Nations Ford, ULCC ATV, and My Brother’s Keeper, we’re creating space for healing, dialogue, and support.
Join us to honor Jocelyn and Gabby, uplift our youth, and commit to a more compassionate Charlotte. Enjoy food, music, children’s art activities, and mental health resources.Performers from the church Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe will perform a mexican folkloric dance. There will also be interactive art activities and music. This is a family friendly event.
