Bike Around the World: Bangladesh
Thursday, April 30, 2026
6:30 p.m.
Free
The Bike Around the World features a film from a specific country, complemented by a potluck. The next stop is Bangladesh! The movie is Mor Thengari (My Bicycle) (2015) written by Aung Rakhine and Nasiful Walid, directed by Aung Rakhine.
This movie is the first feature film made entirely in Chakma, an indigenous language spoken by the Chakma ethnic minority in southeastern Bangladesh. Directed by Aung Rakhine, the film centers around indigenous people and the challenges they face within the country.
The film tells the story of a Chakma man named Komol who is fired from a job in a city and returns to his native village with only a bicycle. Komol tries to make a living by using the bicycle to ferry passengers and goods, but runs into trouble with others in his village.
This event is potluck style, so feel free to make a tasty Bagladeshi dish to share!
