
Kick off National Moth Week with a special screening of The Extraordinary Caterpillar on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m., at Independent Picture House, 4237 Raleigh Street, Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte Wildlife Stewards are hosting this event.
This powerful film reveals the essential, yet often overlooked, role caterpillars play in sustaining life on earth.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required and space is limited. Donations are welcome and appreciated.
The event begins with a Welcome Reception at 1 p.m. This is an opportunity to engage with local organizations and leaders in native plant and wildlife conservation/education.
Connect with folks who are passionate about biodiversity and learn steps you can take to protect, conserve, and restore wildlife and habitat in your community and your own yard.
Step into the theatre at 2 p.m. and enjoy the 1-hour documentary that takes the audience on a visual expedition into the world of these little-known creatures.
Experience stunning macro images highlighting the beauty of these tiny superheroes and discover the role caterpillars play in the food web. Along the way, you’ll see the groundbreaking work of The Caterpillar Lab, entomologist David Wagner, and Doug Tallamy, co-founder of Homegrown National Park.
Stick around for a Q&A with a panel of conservationists and experts at 3 p.m.
