SNAP Benefits are ending November 1, 2025, due to the government shutdown. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council is partnering with Mecklenburg County Public Health Department to provide financial assistance to SNAP users at farmers’ markets. Full details here.
A temporary SNAP incentive model offering SNAP customers $50 in farmers’ market tokens will take place at participating farmers markets during the month of November, 2025. Please note that the list of participating farmers’ market is not as extensive as the list of farmers’ markets that normally participate in the Double Bucks program. Jump to the list of farmers’ markets.

This incentive will allow SNAP recipients to continue shopping for fresh and local foods at participating farmers markets despite the disruption in federal benefits. This pivot will also preserve the program’s intent to support local farms and farmers markets.
SNAP customers can receive $50 in market tokens, free and clear, by presenting their EBT card at the welcome or SNAP tent of any participating market. SNAP customers can receive this incentive once per market visit/day throughout the month of November.
Tokens are market-specific and can only be used for the market where the tokens are received.
There is no registration required to participate in the program. Anyone receiving SNAP benefits is automatically eligible.
Customers can take home any tokens they do not spend and use them on a different market day, but it must be at the same market.
