Ronnie Long Freedom Day celebrates the incredible journey and eventual, long-overdue exoneration and freeing of Ronnie Long.
This event features music, games, community resources, food and more.
The celebration is a free event on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 1 to 6 p.m., at Barber Scotia College, 145 Cabarrus Avenue W, Concord, North Carolina.
Ronnie Long was wrongfully convicted of rape, a conviction not supported by evidence from the crime scene. Evidence that could have exonerated him was suppressed.
He spent 44 years in North Carolina prisons before his conviction was vacated, and he was pardoned and freed, in 2020.
He received a $25 million settlement, and an apology from the City of Concord for its role in his imprisonment.
