Reed Gold Mine, 9621 Reed Mine Road, Midland, North Carolina, is presenting a living history event on Saturday, March 1, 2205, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Boomtown Bash: Life at a Carolina Gold Mine will transport guests back to the 1850s as they learn about America’s first gold rush.

Tickets are $5 for anyone age 5 and up. Pay at the event. Cash and cards (except American Express) are accepted. Panning will be available for $3.

The stamp mill, which crushed quartz into sand to extract any gold, will be open and running periodically through the day.
