
National Pollinator Week is from June 19 to 25, 2023. It’s an annual celebration of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, bats, birds, moths, beetles and more.
City of Charlotte Tree Management is partnering with local, regional and national organizations to present a week of fun, educational events.

Pollinator Garden Walking Tour

Historic Elmwood Cemetery
700 W 6th Street, Charlotte, NC
Join a pollinator garden walking tour near Elmwood Cemetary in Charlotte in celebration of Pollinator Week with the City of Charlotte Landscape Management will partner with Keep Charlotte Beautiful to lead a walking tour of some of Charlotte’s pollinator habitats of the Historic Elmwood Cemetery and Third Ward.
Participants will learn about the history of these gardens, what plants can be seen blooming in them, maintenance observations, as well as some culturally interesting notes about the area. The event will be held on Thursday, June 22 beginning at 6:30pm at Elmwood Cemetery. The tour is expected to last for about an hour, and there will be plenty of parking within the cemetery for this event.
Hosted by North Carolina Wildlife Federation, Keep Charlotte Beautiful and the City of Charlotte.

The City of Charlotte and Wild Ones Charlotte Piedmont will host a presentation on how reducing grass and turf on landscapes can greatly benefit pollinators, along with wildlife and the microbiomes that increase soil health and more.

Tuckaseegee Arboretum and Gardens

The Charlotte Wildlife Stewards will partner with City of Charlotte Landscape Management to talk about bee “houses” and creating nesting sites for bees and birds in your pollinator gardens and landscapes. This will be a fun, hands-on workshop where participants will learn about what bees need (and don’t need) to overwinter and to protect and nourish their young in urban pollinator habitats. This is a free event but pre-registration is required.
