Petra’s Bar, at 1919 Commonwealth Avenue in Plaza Midwood, is a friendly neighborhood bar that includes a main bar with a stage, a taproom, an art gallery and a patio.
It frequently hosts excellent live music, pop-up vendor and art markets, dance parties, film screenings and much more. The events are always low-priced, usually $15 or under.

falllift: Born out of weekly writing sessions during the pandemic, falllift is the collaborative project of Micah Cottingham and William Steven Hall. What began as a creative outlet soon evolved into a full-fledged band grounded in trust, balance, and a shared commitment to growth. Since their debut E.P. Sunday Sessions in 2022, falllift has released several singles, completed two national tours, and earned multiple sync placements. Their music blends introspective storytelling with powerful sonic landscapes, addressing themes from personal growth to social justice.
A Different Thread: Some things are just meant to be. Alicia Best (US) and Robert Jackson (UK) met while busking on the cobbled streets of Ireland and discovered both a musical and personal harmony that was serendipitous. In the decade since forming A Different Thread, Best and Jackson have taken their act on the road, touring over a dozen countries, supporting artists such as Milk Carton Kids and Jody Stephens (Big Star), and garnering critical praise from the likes of Folk Radio UK, which hailed the duo as “warm, deep songwriters that have drank from the well of 20th century tradition.”

Bill Hanna was a legend in Charlotte. He was the godfather of Jazz and Petra’s is keeping his legacy alive each and every Monday night. Come and see some of Charlotte’s best musicians perform in an intimate setting.
