New Disabled South is an organization that helps disabled people in 14 southern states, including North Carolina and South carolina.
They announced on October 27, 2025, that, in response to the government shutdown, which halted SNAP payments, that they’d be distributing funds to disabled people who need food assistance.
The assistance will be in the form of $100 for an individual, and $250 for a household with two or more people, until funds run out.
Apply at ndsdj.org/snaphelp.
New Disabled South advises that if you receive Supplemental Security Income, this assistance might count as income or gift under Social Security rules. Please read the details in the form.
New Disabled South has said that donations can increase the amount of funds they can distribute. If you’d like to donate, you can do so at ndsdj.org/snapdonate.
