The City of Mount Holly is hosting Maps at the Mill, a GIS Day Celebration on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Mount Holly Grand Hall, 400 E Central Avenue, Mount Holly, North Carolina.
This is a free event.
GIS (Geographic Information System) Day is a global recognized day started in 1999 and is celebrated with a myriad of events across the region, state, country, and world.
The City of Mount Holly is hosting a GIS Day celebration and collaborating with local government agencies to provide educational and interactive displays and demonstrations.
The theme is, “Celebrating America 250 with historic maps and modern GIS.” You will see GIS Professionals from nearly 20 different departments and agencies all interacting with geospatial practices in different ways.
At the event, you can expect to be greeted by a welcome table and invited to stroll through the Grand Hall visiting each table exhibit to talk with the experts. Agencies might have hands-on displays, give-away items, group activities, and more. Throughout the day, there will be presentations offered in an adjacent room.
There is also free popcorn provided and a coffee truck that will be set up in the morning. The coffee truck is a paid amenity and the event does not gain profits from sales.
School groups are invited to attend including homeschool and college aged classes. Any groups larger than 5 students, are invited to register in advance to help keep the crowd spread out.
All age ranges are invited to attend, though students 5th grade and older will likely connect with the material the best.
