Learn to Ride, is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer series of events to grow Charlotte’s cycling community one new cyclist at a time.
Learn to Ride is made possible in partnership with Bicycle Sport and Trips for Kids – Charlotte, with support from Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, Sustain Charlotte, and well-run media + marketing.
Bring your kids’ bikes and helmets, but don’t worry if you don’t have a bike or helmet. Learn to Ride has loaners.
Learn to Ride uses the “balance bike” method, where riders first learn to balance on the bike without pedaling.
At the event volunteers will check the bike and helmet fit, remove the training wheels and pedals, and lower the seat so the rider can stand over the bike. When the time is right they’ll reinstall the pedals.
