June 14, 2025, is World Wide Knit in Public Day. This is a day for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company.
CRAFT CLT has a fun event planned, Knit in Public Light Rail Ride. Participants will ride the Blue Line and knit together, and then have lunch together at Market at 7th Street. The only cost is your light rail ticket and whatever food you purchase.
Please note that a very large rally/protest/march will be taking place at First Ward Park and many people will be riding the train.
You can join the ride at a number of stations (see below) or just meet up at Market at 7th Street. The three stations with planned meet-ups have free parking.
You can also start at any light rail station convenient to you and meet up at Market at 7th Street.
If you’re driving to 7th Street, instead of taking the light rail, park in 7th Street Station and get your parking ticket validated for two hours when you make a purchase.

Using the Light Rail

If you’re new to Charlotte’s light rail system, it’s easy to use. You can purchase a ticket at the station, but it’s easier to use the CATS (Charlotte Area Transit System) app, CATS-Pass. Learn about the app here, and download from the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
Once you’re on the platform, if you bought the ticket on the app, activate it. (If you don’t buy a ticket, or you don’t activate it, you could be subject to a fine if a CATS Fair Inspector comes through to check.)
One-way tickets are $2.20, or $1.10 for seniors 62+, ADA-disabled people, and K-12 students. A roundtrip ticket is twice as much.
