Bechtler Museum of Modern Art’s next Family Day is Saturday, May 19th, 2018, from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free for kids and $8 for adults.
Besides the free and discounted admission, there will be free hands-on art activities throughout the museum for families to enjoy.
Here are some details about the May 19th Family Day.
Kids and families can explore the art and artists in the Bechtler collection through special hands-on art activities and family-focused museum tours during Family Day Saturday, May 19 from noon to 4:30 p.m. Drop in anytime during the afternoon.
Recreate the colorful stained glass-inspired paintings of Alfred Manessier with oil pastels in the second-floor classroom. Make your own stained glass laminates in the Bechtler lobby. Create paper collages in the fourth-floor family gallery based on the colorful collages of Charlotte artist Romare Bearden, as seen currently on view in Wrestling the Angel. Finally, test your eagle eyes to see if you can find certain pieces of Bechtler artwork and win prizes with Bechtler BINGO.
Complimentary guided tours of the galleries will be available at 1 and 3 p.m. Meet in the Bechtler lobby.
Admission to Family Day is FREE for kids under 18 and $8 for adults. On Family Day, all children’s merchandise in the museum store is discounted 10%. Choose from a selection of art books, contemporary toys, activity sets and more.
