
Carolina Raptor Center, 6000 Sample Road, Huntersville, is celebrating International Vulture Awareness Day on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Vultures are nature’s “clean-up crews” and are important to the environment.
The special activities and events are included in regular admission:
- Adults: $16
- Seniors, teachers, military members: $14
- Ages 13-22: $14
- Ages 3-13: $12
- Children under: Free
- Members: Free
- Members of Indigenous Tribal Nations
- Family of four or individuals participating in SNAP/EBT or WIC: Free
In honor of vultures’ “bald appearance,” anyone who is bald gets FREE admission this one day.
This event will feature vulture-themed programs, activities, and games in honor of all the work that vultures do.
- 11 a.m.: Meet a Raptor. Learn what makes raptors unique in this seated educational program with an avian ambassador.
- 1 p.m.: Fly-By. Feel the wind in your hair as an avian ambassador shows off what they do best: fly!
- 2:30 p.m.: Keeper Chat. Learn about Igor, the Black Vulture who lives on the Raptor Trail.
Carolina Raptor Center is within Latta Nature Preserve.
