Hummingbird Week August 17-23 at Mecklenburg County Nature Centers

Reedy Creek Nature Center’s Hummingbird Week is a popular annual August tradition in Charlotte. It takes place from August 17-23, 2026.

Read on for a list of some of the events. Make sure to follow each link and register, if required. Please note that the bird banding events are likely to fill up quickly.

Most of the events take place at Reedy Creek Nature Center, but other nature centers also host some activities.

There’s also an art contest. Participants ages 5 and up can submit their hummingbird artwork to the nature centers. (See below.)

Artwork must be original work featuring a hummingbird, may be no larger than 9×12 inches, and must include a hummingbird.
