The Homage Exhibit is a traveling collection of more than 650 original artifacts, documents and pieces of art that showcase the Africa American experience. The exhibit is owned by Nia and Morris McAdoo, Charlotte residents who have been collecting the items for more than 20 years.
The exhibit includes documents and work by Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, Frederick Douglass, Shirley Chisholm, Booker T. Washington, Ralph Bunche and more.
Selections of The Homage Exhibit will be displayed at First Ward Park, 301 E 7th Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This exhibit showcases an exploration of personal narratives, collective history and artistic representation.
There’s no cost to visit.
The Mec Rec n Roll van will be onsite with kids’ activities.
This event is presented in partnership with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, and features artists from Charlotte is Creative.
