
Carolina Theatre, 230 N Tryon Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, is showing Ghostbusters (1984) on July 20, 2025, as part of its Lost Years Summer Blockbuster Series, a weekly movie series that showcases blockbuster hits from the years the Carolina Theatre was closed.
To celebrate, the Carolina Theatre will have the famous Ectomobile parked on Tryon Street in front of the theatre from 1 to 4 p.m.
It’s free to take pictures with the car, which is driven by Barrie J. Clark, a local Ghostbuster!
Tickets to see Ghostbusters, which will be screened at 2 p.m., start at $16. You can buy them at the Guest Services desk or online.
Carolina Theatre has a long history in Charlotte. It opened in 1927 and hosted live shows (including Elvis Presley) and featured films (including a 79-week run of The Sound of Music.) It closed its doors in 1978. After an extensive renovation that preserved its iconic facade, it reopened in March of 2025.
